South Simcoe Police made three arrests and recovered two stolen bicycles in Bradford West Gwillimbury last week.
Police first responded to reports of a bicycle stolen on Thursday, June 18th and another bicycle stolen earlier in the week that had been spotted in the Holland Street area. At around 3:40 p.m., officers located a man riding a bicycle matching the description of the bike stolen that day. A 53-year-old man from Brampton was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
While officers were making that arrest, a second man rode by on another bicycle that had been reported stolen earlier in the week. A 55-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested on the same charges. Both recovered bicycles were returned to their owners, including one belonging to a teenager who had saved money to buy and customize the bike.
Later that afternoon, officers conducting patrols near the South Simcoe Police Bike Rodeo at Canadian Tire recognized a cyclist as a suspect wanted on outstanding warrants. A 58-year-old Bradford man was arrested on warrants held by the York Regional Police and the North Bay Police Service.
