Barrie Police say the deaths of two people found inside a north-end home last week have been determined to be the result of intimate partner violence.
Police provided the update on Thursday, June 25th following an investigation by the Barrie Police Major Crime/Homicide Unit into the deaths of a 46-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman who lived at the residence.
Officers were called to a home in the area of St. Vincent Street and Osprey Ridge Road last weekend to conduct a well-being check, where they located both individuals deceased.
Investigators have determined the woman’s death was a homicide. Police believe the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The firearm involved was recovered at the scene. Police say there are no outstanding suspects, and no criminal charges are expected.
Barrie Police will not release the names of those involved or any additional details out of respect for the family.

Barrie Police continue to investigate after two people were found dead inside a home in the city’s northeast end over the weekend.
Officers were conducting a well-being check on Saturday, June 20th, when they discovered a dead man and woman inside a residence in the area of St. Vincent Street and Osprey Ridge Road.
Police initially said the two victims were believed to know one another and that the incident appeared to be isolated. A significant police presence remained in the area as members of the Major Crime Unit began investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Barrie Police say they were a 45-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, both from Barrie.
Investigators have not released details regarding the cause of death or the relationship between the two individuals.
Police say they are not currently seeking any suspects in connection with the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
