A Barrie man is facing multiple child exploitation charges following a five-month investigation by the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.
The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported the online upload of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
As part of the investigation, the Barrie Police ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the central area of Barrie in June. Officers seized several electronic devices belonging to the accused for forensic examination.
Police say the forensic analysis identified images and videos of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, along with evidence that files had been distributed and purchased.
A 39-year-old unnamed Barrie man was arrested on Friday, July 3rd and charged with:
- Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Distributing child exploitation material
