A 16-year-old G2 licence holder is facing a criminal charge following a two-vehicle collision in Barrie that left one person seriously injured.
Barrie Police responded to the crash shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6th in the area of Country Lane and Dean Avenue.
Police say the investigation determined the 16-year-old driver was travelling at excessive speeds on Country Lane with multiple passengers in the vehicle when it collided with a vehicle travelling on Dean Avenue.
The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway and onto the front lawn of a nearby corner residence. Police say the home was not damaged.
A 67-year-old Barrie man suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The teenage driver was not injured.
The intersection remained closed for several hours while officers investigated the collision.
The next day, the 16-year-old Barrie resident was charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be released.
