Eight Simcoe County libraries have joined forces for the 2026 Simcoe Reads challenge.
They’re encouraging residents to discover Canadian authors and vote for the one book everyone in the region should read.
The county-wide reading challenge features a unique Canadian fiction or non-fiction title selected by each participating library. Readers can choose to read one book or all eight throughout the summer.
The eight local libraries taking part include:
- Barrie
- Bradford West Gwillimbury
- Essa
- Innisfil
- Midland
- New Tecumseth
- Ramara
- Severn
The program will wrap up with the Simcoe Reads Grand Finale on Tuesday, September 29th, at 6:30 p.m. at the General John Hayter South Shore Community Centre in Barrie. During the event, the eight community champions will defend their book selections in a lively debate before attendees vote for the title they believe everyone in Simcoe County should read.
