Georgian College is leading a new province-funded project aimed at improving the transfer student experience and making it easier for students to move between post-secondary programs.
The project, “Integrating Data Sources to Improve the Transfer Student Experience,” is funded by the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) and will examine how transfer-related information moves through Georgian’s systems to improve its accuracy, consistency and timeliness.
The initiative will focus on students transferring from another college or university, as well as those moving between programs within Georgian. The project will also explore ways to make the application process clearer, including helping students better understand opportunities to apply for advanced standing and receive credit for previously completed courses.
Georgian will examine how other Ontario institutions use Ontario College Application Service (OCAS) tools, identify sector best practices and explore potential improvements with OCAS.
The findings and best practices from the project will be shared with post-secondary institutions across Ontario to help improve student mobility throughout the province.
