A 17-year-old Bradford youth is facing several charges following two incidents involving an e-bike in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
South Simcoe Police say they received a report at around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8th, about a youth causing a disturbance at a business on Holland Street West. The youth allegedly refused to leave the drive-thru area and took food without paying. Police located the youth nearby, but say they fled when officers attempted to stop them.
Later that day, at around 6:00 p.m., police responded to the same area for another disturbance involving a youth. Police say the youth had also been operating an e-bike at a high rate of speed through a crowded public area and again fled when officers attempted to speak with them.
The youth was later arrested. Police say four unopened alcoholic beverages were also found in their possession.
The Bradford youth is facing charges including:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Two counts of Flight from Peace Officer
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Dangerous Operation
- Person Under 19 Years Having Liquor
- Fail to Identify Self
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Permit
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence
- Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway – No Insurance
The youth was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in October.
