Barrie Police are asking a second youth believed to have been involved in an assault along the city’s waterfront to contact investigators.
It happened at around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31st in the area of Lakeshore Drive and Victoria Street. A 16-year-old girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from hospital.
A 15-year-old girl has been charged with assault. Police say the investigation into additional suspects remains ongoing.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or those involved to contact the investigating officer by email at swhitehead@barriepolice.ca.
Police also say a video of the assault has circulated on social media. Investigators noted that several people gathered around the incident, with some allegedly cheering, encouraging those involved and recording the assault.
Due to the ages of those involved, police say no identifying information about the youth, victims or witnesses can be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
