A 52-year-old Barrie man is facing several charges following an investigation by the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
The investigation began Tuesday, August 4th, involving a male allegedly in possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material. The individual was located in Barrie and arrested without incident.
On Wednesday, August 5th, officers executed a residential search warrant in Barrie and seized a recording device. A second search warrant was carried out the following day, resulting in the seizure of a computer device.
The man has been charged with:
- Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Making child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Voyeurism
- Making sexually explicit material available to a child
Police continue to examine the electronic devices seized during the investigation and say additional charges may be laid.
