A Barrie woman is facing an attempted murder charge following an apparent stabbing at a North Street complex.
Barrie Police responded shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6th, after receiving reports of a stabbing. Officers located a 41-year-old Barrie woman suffering from serious injuries. She was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted by Ornge air ambulance to a Toronto-area hospital.
Police located a suspect inside a unit at the complex and arrested her without incident.
Investigators say the two women were known to each other and had a history of conflict. Security video reportedly showed the victim entering a stairwell with the accused following behind while armed with a knife. The accused was later seen leaving the stairwell alone.
The 49-year-old woman has been charged with attempt to commit murder under the Criminal Code of Canada.
