Tottenham is unlikely to be added to Simcoe County’s LINX transit network in the near term, leaving New Tecumseth to pursue its own options for connecting the growing community to the rest of the municipality.
A preliminary assessment for the county’s ongoing Transit Service Delivery Review found that extending LINX Route 5 into Tottenham would increase travel times, require another vehicle and reduce the efficiency of a route that currently links Alliston and Beeton with the Bradford GO station.
Two possible extensions were examined. One would add about 10 minutes to the route and require a third vehicle to maintain hourly service. The other would divert the Alliston-Beeton route through Tottenham, adding roughly nine kilometres and 10 minutes of travel time.
