A 42-year-old Barrie man is facing 28 charges following an investigation into a series of commercial break-and-enters across the city.
Barrie Police say detectives reviewed hours of security camera footage and linked the same suspect to 14 break-and-enters between June 29th and the end of July. Investigators believe he may have been involved in around 30 break-ins during that period.
On July 30th, officers and the K9 Unit established a perimeter near Perry Street. Police Service Dog Dutch tracked the suspect to a wooded area, where he was arrested.
The man has been charged with:
- Break-and-enter (x14)
- Wear disguise with intent (x10)
- Possession of break-in instruments (x4)
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could be laid.
Investigators are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage of suspicious activity between June 29th and July 29th in the areas of Anne Street between Ferndale Drive and Innisfil Street, or St. Vincent Street between Livingstone Street and Bell Farm Road, to contact police.
Barrie Police are also reminding business owners to maintain working security cameras, remove cash from registers after hours and ensure doors, windows and other access points are properly secured.
