Sandra Phekoo Financial Services Inc. and Co-operators Alliston are supporting the future of healthcare in South Simcoe with a $15,000 donation to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Because of YOU campaign.
The donation will support the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital and the construction of a new hospital.
“Sandra Phekoo and Co-operators have shown their commitment to our community through this generous gift,” says Melody Craggs, Director of Campaign & Philanthropy at Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Support like this brings us one step closer to making our vision for a new Stevenson Memorial Hospital a reality. We are incredibly grateful for their investment in the future of healthcare close to home.”
Sandra Phekoo says supporting the campaign is an opportunity to help ensure local families have access to healthcare for years to come.
“In the Eastern Ancient Indian culture, there is a concept called ‘seva’ which means selfless service, which goes beyond charity,” adds Phekoo. “I truly believe small acts of selfless service is transformative and can change the world. When we give without expectations, we discover that true meaning of fulfillment, that it is found in not what we acquire but in helping others”.
The Stevenson Memorial Hospital redevelopment is described as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform healthcare in South Simcoe. The new hospital will feature modern spaces and technology intended to better meet the needs of patients, families, healthcare providers and the growing communities served by Stevenson.
This fall, new donations to the Because of YOU campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $1.34 million annually for the next three years through support from the Morningview Foundation. From September 1st to December 16th, every $1,000 in new donations also provides an opportunity to have the donor’s name placed on a patient room in the future Stevenson Memorial Hospital through the Room of Your Own Draw.
