The Town of Innisfil is inviting newcomers and residents to connect with local organizations and learn more about community resources during an upcoming Week of Welcome event.
The Town, in partnership with the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, is hosting the event Thursday, September 17th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lakeshore Branch, located at 967 Innisfil Beach Road.
The open house will provide attendees with an opportunity to connect with Town staff, social service agencies, first responders and other community partners. Information will be available on topics including employment, education, healthcare, volunteering, voting and municipal matters.
“This local showcase is a fantastic opportunity to support the integration of newcomers and reinforce a sense of belonging in Innisfil,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “We want to ensure that residents know who to go to, how to get involved, and ultimately feel supported as they settle into their community.”
The family-friendly event will also feature opportunities to meet municipal and community partners, obtain a library card, explore library services, enjoy free treats and play life-size board games. Residents and newcomers will also have the chance to meet and connect with others in a welcoming social setting.
The Town is participating in the County of Simcoe’s fourth annual Week of Welcome, which runs Monday, September 14th to Friday, September 18th. The initiative is aimed at welcoming newcomers through service fairs and cultural events.
