The annual Young at Heart Charity Motorcycle Ride has raised $30,988 to support the redevelopment of IOOF Seniors Homes’ long-term care home in Barrie.
IOOF Seniors Homes says the weather prevented most riders from participating in this year’s ride, but the event continued to bring the community together. Riders visited with residents and took part in a BBQ lunch and entertainment.
“Even though the weather prevented most riders from taking part in the ride this year, it did not dampen the spirit of the event,” says Garry Hopkins, CEO of IOOF Seniors Homes. “Many riders came to visit with our residents and enjoyed a BBQ lunch and entertainment. Together, we raised funds that directly benefit our construction project — one that will increase our Home’s ability to care for more residents and provide dignity and comfort for local seniors.”
Barrie Harley-Davidson served as the location sponsor and contributed a $1,000 donation on behalf of the residents. IOOF Seniors Homes also thanks the Huronia HOG Chapter and its members for their support.
Proceeds from the Young at Heart Ride support IOOF Seniors Homes’ redevelopment campaign, which aims to expand the long-term care home to a 226-bed facility.
