Residents in Alliston and Innisfil will have opportunities to meet municipal election candidates and hear about local issues ahead of the 2026 Municipal Election.
In Alliston, the Gibson Centre is hosting a free Meet Your Candidates event on Monday, September 21st, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Gibson Cultural Centre, located at 63 Tupper Street West.
The all-candidates event is open to everyone and is intended to give residents an opportunity to meet candidates one-on-one, ask questions, stay informed and engage with the community ahead of the vote.
In Innisfil, Innisfil Politics and the Innisfil Indian Association are hosting an All Candidates Meet & Greet and Municipal Debate on Saturday, October 3rd, at Innisfil Community Church.
The Meet & Greet begins at 2:00 p.m., followed by the municipal debate at 3:00 p.m. The debate will feature candidates from Wards 1 and 6, Wards 2 and 7, Wards 3, 4 and 5, followed by debates involving the Deputy Mayor and Mayor candidates.
The organizers say the event is designed to provide an open forum where residents can meet candidates, hear their perspectives, ask questions and discuss issues affecting the community.
The format will include candidate introductions, questions from moderators and questions from the audience. Questions will not be provided to candidates in advance.
Topics may include taxation and the municipal budget, growth and development, roads and infrastructure, transit, community services, accountability and ward-specific concerns.
The debate will also be streamed live on Facebook for residents who cannot attend in person.
It will be moderated by Su Sahu and Steven Fishman. Organizers also encourage attendees to bring donations for the Innisfil Food Bank.
Election Day is October 26th.
