A Barrie woman is facing charges after a vehicle struck another woman and two children last month.
Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit officers responded to Mapleview Drive West at Marsellus Drive at around 7:00 a.m. on August 21st, after a vehicle struck three pedestrians.
Investigators determined the driver was stopped on Marsellus Drive at a red light and was preparing to turn left onto Mapleview Drive West. When the light turned green, the driver made the turn and struck a 40-year-old woman and two boys, aged nine and six, as they crossed Mapleview Drive West.
The woman and nine-year-old boy sustained minor injuries. The six-year-old boy suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Toronto hospital. All three have since been released and are continuing to recover at home.
The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was not injured.
On Tuesday, September 15th, police charged the 58-year-old Barrie woman with two counts of careless driving and one count of careless driving causing bodily harm.
