The Ontario government is investing more than $38.3 million in the County of Simcoe to support paramedics, increase ambulance availability and help connect residents to emergency care faster.
They’re providing $37,591,402 in land ambulance funding to Simcoe County this year, representing a 9% increase from 2025. The additional base funding is intended to help municipalities manage rising costs while continuing to provide emergency services.
“Simcoe County is growing, and we need to ensure emergency services keep pace with that growth,” says Brian Saunderson, MPP for Simcoe-Grey. “This $38.4 million investment will help the County of Simcoe support its paramedics, respond to increasing demand and continue delivering the high-quality emergency care residents across our communities depend on. I want to thank our paramedics, health-care professionals and county partners for the important work they do every day.”
The investment is part of more than $1 billion in land ambulance funding being provided to municipalities across Ontario this year, an average increase of nine per cent compared with 2025.
Ontario is also investing $800,000 in Simcoe County through the Dedicated Offload Nurses Program. The funding will support the hiring of nurses and other eligible health professionals who are dedicated to transferring ambulance patients into hospital emergency departments.
The program is designed to reduce the amount of time paramedics spend waiting at hospitals, allowing them to return to the community and respond to additional 9-1-1 calls. The province says ambulance offload times have declined by approximately 68% since their peak in October 2022.
“Our government is making record investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system and connect people to the care they need, where and when they need it,” says Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “With provincial ambulance offload times declining by nearly 70% since 2022, this shows that our plan is working.”
