New Tecumseth Fire Rescue has introduced its first-ever full-time fire crew.
The new staffing model transitions the department to a composite system that includes a dedicated full-time crew. The Town says the change is intended to enhance response times, strengthen daytime emergency coverage, and increase the department’s capacity to respond to residents’ needs.
“This milestone reflects our Council’s commitment to investing in public safety and preparing for the future needs of our growing community,” says Mayor Richard Norcross. “Welcoming New Tecumseth Fire Rescue’s first full-time crew is a proud moment for our municipality and demonstrates our ongoing dedication to protecting residents, supporting our firefighters, and building a stronger, more resilient community for generations to come.”
The full-time crew will temporarily operate from Station 1 while construction and occupancy of Station 4 are completed.
During that time, crew members will support emergency response operations, participate in training and professional development, and take part in community safety and public education initiatives throughout New Tecumseth.
The Town says the introduction of the full-time crew follows years of planning, collaboration and strategic investment aimed at strengthening the local fire service as the community continues to grow.
