More than 400 Simcoe County students gained leadership skills and learned about mental health promotion through the 4th annual Student Mental Health Ambassador Symposium.
The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) hosted the event last week in collaboration with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.
This symposium was designed to empower students to become leaders in their school communities. Students explored different leadership styles and took part in outdoor learning and interactive workshops focused on positive mental health, belonging and well-being.
The event also provided students with opportunities to build connections and develop ideas they can bring back to their schools.
Student ambassadors will use the knowledge and skills gained at the symposium to work with their peers, identify local needs and lead initiatives supporting mental health and well-being within their school communities.
