A longtime supporter of Stevenson Memorial Hospital is making a $150,000 pledge toward the hospital’s future as the redevelopment project moves forward.
The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation says MacKinnon Family Restaurants is contributing the funds to its Because of YOU campaign. The MacKinnon family operates McDonald’s restaurants in Alliston and Angus and has supported Stevenson and the Foundation through community initiatives including McHappy Day and Cookies for Healthcare.
The family’s 2026 McHappy Day efforts raised more than $11,000 for Stevenson. With the next generation of the family taking on ownership of the restaurants, Thomas MacKinnon is continuing that commitment through the $150,000 pledge.
“This is an exciting time for Stevenson and our community,” says Thomas MacKinnon, Owner & Operator of the Alliston and Angus McDonald’s restaurants and Leadership Chair for the Because of YOU campaign. “Our family has always believed in giving back to the communities we’re part of, and Stevenson has been there for so many local families. Being able to support the new hospital and name a room in memory of my late sister, Carly Francis MacKinnon, makes this especially meaningful for our family.”
The Alliston and Angus restaurants will also take part in Cookies for Healthcare from October 16th to October 18th, with proceeds from cookie sales supporting the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The Because of YOU campaign is raising $80 million through community support to help build the future of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. The redevelopment will more than double the size of the existing hospital and include expanded emergency care, expanded obstetrics and new diagnostic imaging equipment, including Stevenson’s first MRI suite.
With construction underway, the Foundation says support from community donors, businesses and families is helping advance the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.
