Barrie Police have confirmed that a fatal house fire was not suspicious.
The fire broke out on Alfred Street on Friday, October 2nd, at about 3:45 p.m., prompting emergency crews to respond to reports of heavy smoke coming from every window of the residence.
Two men who lived in the home died following the fire. A 76-year-old man was found unresponsive and transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The second victim, a 63-year-old man, was later identified by the coroner’s office. Police confirmed the men were siblings and that their next of kin had been notified.
The Ontario Fire Marshal attended the scene recently to investigate the cause of the fire. Barrie Police say there is no indication the fire was criminal in nature.
The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
