My Sister’s Place is receiving a $45,400 provincial grant.
They will be using the funding to upgrade their technology systems, strengthen information security, and expand outreach capabilities for women and children experiencing violence and abuse in Simcoe County.
“For nearly 40 years, My Sister’s Place has been a trusted source of safety and support for women and children experiencing violence and abuse in Simcoe County,” says Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson. “This important provincial investment will help strengthen the organization’s ability to deliver essential services to those who depend on them. My sincere thanks to Deborah Herrington and the team for their unwavering dedication and the positive impact they have on our communities every day.”
Deborah Herrington, Executive Director of People In Transition, My Sister’s Place, says the upgrades are needed to maintain the organization’s services and protect sensitive information.
“Our current outdated systems are obsolete and if left as is, will impact direct services to the women and children that we serve, in a physical area that relies on outreach technology to connect in many cases,” says Herrington. “Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation, these upgrades and additions will allow our services to continue safely and the integrity of information shared remain secure.”
OTF Seed grants help organizations build resilience and strengthen their ability to deliver programs and services that benefit their communities. Funding can support organizational planning, pilot programs or capacity-building efforts to prepare for future community needs.
“In Simcoe-Grey and all across Ontario, non-profit organizations are delivering critical programs that empowers people to learn new skills, pursue rewarding careers and build meaningful connections with their community,” says Zee Hamid, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “With this funding, Ontario is protecting and supporting communities, while helping to ensure these non-profits can strengthen their foundations and prepare for the future, so they can continue meeting the evolving needs of Ontarians now and for years to come.”
The Ontario government has invested more than $792 million in over 7,300 projects through the Ontario Trillium Foundation since 2018. According to the province, these investments have created more than 9,490 full-time jobs and generated over $1.1 billion in economic benefits for communities across Ontario.
