Orangeville’s retired 1931 Bickle fire truck has taken on a new form in the hands of four students at Orangeville District Secondary School. Their small-scale replica captures a vehicle that served the town for many years, preserving its character in a model intended for display at the new Orangeville firehouse.
Guided by instructor Richard Alexander, the team worked to reproduce as many of the original truck’s details as their available materials allowed. The finished piece, with its red wheels and open cab, reflects the care that went into translating a piece of local history into a student-built metal model.
Intended for public display, the replica connects the students’ craftsmanship with the town’s firefighting heritage. The piece gives visitors a way to appreciate the area’s history while recognizing the skills of the young people who helped preserve it.
