The Town of New Tecumseth has launched an environmental assessment to explore potential improvements to four intersections along the Alliston Connecting Link, with community input helping to shape the study.
The Municipal Class Environmental Assessment will examine the Victoria Street West, Young Street, Albert Street and King Street intersections. The study will assess existing and future transportation conditions and evaluate potential solutions to improve safety, efficiency, connectivity and the movement of people through the corridor.
The assessment will also consider the existing 300-metre jog along King Street, which interrupts the otherwise continuous east-west connection of Highway 89.
The study will look into environmental, social, cultural, technical and financial factors as part of the evaluation process. No preferred solution has been selected at this stage.
Residents, businesses, property owners, agencies, Indigenous communities and other interested stakeholders are invited to share their local knowledge, concerns and ideas. Feedback is being sought on transportation, traffic operations, safety, accessibility, active transportation, transit and the overall function of the corridor.
Comments received throughout the study will be documented and considered as part of the decision-making process.
The project webpage will serve as the primary source of information, including future study updates, materials, Public Information Centre details and opportunities for public input. Public Information Centres are planned for later phases to present findings, discuss alternatives and gather community feedback. Details about future engagement opportunities will be shared through the Town’s website, social media channels and other project communications.
Residents can submit comments, ask questions or join the project contact list by contacting either project manager.
