Grade 8 students and their families across Simcoe County are being invited to explore their high school options.
Both the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) have announced upcoming information nights and open house events.
The events are designed to help students prepare for the transition to high school by providing opportunities to tour schools, meet staff and current students, learn about academic programs and courses, and explore extracurricular activities — including clubs and sports.
The SCDSB is inviting students entering Grade 9 in the 2027-28 school year, along with their parents and guardians, to attend an information night at their local secondary school.
Families will have the opportunity to meet department representatives, explore school facilities, connect with student leaders and learn more about the programs and courses available. The board says its secondary schools offer a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities to support students’ individual needs and interests.
Families can find information about their local school’s event here. You can explore available programs and course options here.
