On the verge of the beginning of a new waste collection collection system being implemented, Simcoe County Council has tweaked the program.
Council voted to expedite the cart exchange program to increase flexibility for residents rather than waiting for the results of a public survey and pilot project to explore potential cart exchange options.
In other words, if you want a smaller cart you won’t have to wait as long
The County say they will begin accepting cart exchange requests in mid-January 2022, but the new system is still going ahead with the larger carts starting Monday (nov 1).
A staff report estimate cost of offering smaller bins will be $2-$4 million in the first year, with annual operating costs estimated at $1.1 million after that.
The money for additional staff, vehicles and equipment needed to roll out the revision.
You can submit a cart swap request for free until July 2022.
After that a $50 delivery charge will added.
