Members of the Dufferin County Paramedic Service received recognition from the Province and Canada with awards acknowledging their outstanding contributions to the field of Paramedicine.
The Governor General of Canada’s Exemplary Service Medals for Emergency Medical Services were granted to eight members of the DCPS for their unwavering dedication and service to the community.
Exemplary Service Medals were awarded to:
- Stacey Becker, Superintendent
- Mike Chambers, Advanced Care Paramedic
- Brian MacIntyre, Superintendent
- Heather McNab, Primary Care Paramedic
- Shawn O’Donnell, Advanced Care Paramedic
- John Posavac, Advanced Care Paramedic
- Gary Staples, Deputy Chief, Performance Quality & Development
- Dave Tyler, Superintendent, Community Paramedic Program
The Award recognizes members of the pre-hospital emergency medical service who have served for a minimum of 20 years, with at least 10 years of service in high-risk positions.
In addition, Dufferin County Paramedic Chief, Tom Reid was awarded the Richard J. Armstrong Leadership Award, which recognizes exceptional leadership and significant contributions to Paramedicine in Ontario.
Tom currently leads a team of over 60 paramedics and support staff at stations in Orangeville, Shelburne, and Grand Valley.
DCPS is one of only a few paramedic services across Ontario whose members are hospital employees.
