
Ontario has appointed Janice Skot as investigator for Stevenson Memorial Hospital to review the hospital’s operations and ensure it delivers the best possible care for patients.
Over the next several months, Ms. Skot will work closely with Stevenson Memorial’s CEO, the board of directors, and hospital staff, as well as community members and key stakeholders to review
concerns that have been raised about the management and governance of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.
The Ministry of Health and Ontario Health will receive updates during the course of the review, leading to a final report on the operations of Stevenson Memorial Hospital that will help strengthen the hospital’s governance, accountability and ability to deliver the best possible care to Ontarians.
During Ms. Skot’s tenure as investigator, regular operations at Stevenson Memorial Hospital will continue. People needing to connect to care at Stevenson Memorial will see no disruption in service and will be able to access all regular programs and services.
Ms. Skot previously served as the President and CEO of Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie for from 2004 to 2022.
She has over a decade of executive leadership experience including roles as President and CEO of Laurentian Hospital in Sudbury and CEO of the Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer centre.
Ms. Skot has a degree in Nursing from Queen’s University, a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of Toronto, and completed an advanced management program
from Harvard Business School.
She is also a certified Director of the Rotman School of Management and Institute of Corporate Directors at the University of Toronto.
