This years National Silver Cross Mother is Mrs. Maureen Anderson.
Mrs. Anderson will place a wreath at the National War Memorial on Remembrance Day (nov11) on behalf of all Canadian mothers who have lost a son or a daughter in the military service of Canada.
Anderson was born in England and was barely a toddler when her parents moved to Canada in 1947.
Anderson became a nurse and started working at the National Defence Medical Centre at the former CFB Rockcliffe.
One of her patients turned out to be her late husband Peter Anderson.
She and her husband went on to raise two children, Ron and Ryan.
Both of whom joined the millitary.
Anderson later lost both boys to PTSD.
