The Simcoe County Auto Mayors sent out a letter this week, urging the federal government to revise the ZEV mandate to include the hybrids as fully compliant.
They say doing so could protect jobs in the community, attract investment, and strengthen Canada’s auto manufacturing sector during this period of uncertainty.
This comes after Honda has postponed its $15-billion EV and battery plant project in New Tecumseth by at least two years.
