Tourism Simcoe County, in partnership with local municipalities, is once again inviting residents and visitors to step inside some of the region’s most treasured spaces with the return of Doors Open Simcoe County.
The event takes place on Saturday, September 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering a unique opportunity to discover the history, culture, and stories behind a wide range of local landmarks.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to share our culture and heritage with both residents and visitors,” says Warden Basil Clarke. “The sector is a driving force for tourism, and we’re proud to partner with businesses and municipalities to open our doors once again.”
This year’s event will feature 19 locations across Simcoe County, including the Leacock Museum National Historic Site in Orillia, the Coldwater Museum, and the Penetanguishene Sports Hall of Fame. From museums and historic buildings to trails and natural spaces, each participating site highlights a unique piece of Simcoe County’s heritage.
Doors Open Simcoe County is part of the Doors Open Ontario initiative, a province-wide program celebrating culture and heritage through free public access to sites of historical, architectural, and cultural significance.
