York Regional Police say a Tottenham man has been charged following a human trafficking investigation involving a victim under the age of 18.
Investigators allege that between April 1st and August 1st, the suspect lured the victim into providing sexual services, sexually assaulted her, took sexually explicit photos, and attempted to arrange clients for sexual services. The victim came forward on Friday, August 29th, prompting the investigation.
On Tuesday, September 9th, police arrested the suspect and seized controlled substances from him and during a search of a Tottenham residence.
35-year-old Diaa Al-Shimmary of Tottenham faces the following charges:
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Interference
- Invitation to Sexual Touching
- Procure a Person Under 18
- Making Child Pornography
- Luring a Child x4
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I Substance
Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging them to contact police.
