
A Milton resident is facing multiple charges after a late-night traffic stop in Essa Township uncovered drugs and suspected impaired driving.
On Sunday, September 14th, shortly after 11:00 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP officers on patrol observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Scotch Pine Road at Brentwood Road. Police conducted a traffic stop, and during the interaction, officers determined the driver’s ability to operate the vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to their arrest.
Further investigation led to the discovery of 88.3 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and 7.6 grams of cocaine in the vehicle, resulting in the arrest of both the driver and the passenger for trafficking.
A 36-year-old from Milton has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
A 42-year-old from Barrie was also charged:
- Possession of an identity document
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
- Identity Theft – obtain or possess another persons identity information
Both accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on October 9th.
