The County of Simcoe has fulfilled its five-year pledge to strengthen residential hospice and palliative care services, presenting a cheque for $437,987 to the Simcoe County Hospice Alliance.
The contribution marks the final installment of a strategic investment launched in 2021, which has provided more than $2.3 million in total support to enhance end-of-life care across the region.
This year’s funding was distributed among Alliance partners:
- Hospice Georgian Triangle ($128,081)
- Hospice Simcoe ($98,763)
- Mariposa House Hospice ($77,371)
- Matthews House Hospice ($75,445)
- Hospice Huronia ($58,327)
Funds supported community expansion, capital projects, and Infection Prevention and Control upgrades, helping to ensure residents receive care in safe, modern facilities.
“We’re proud to support the Simcoe County Hospice Alliance in their mission to provide dignity, comfort, and care to residents and families during life’s most vulnerable moments,” says Warden Basil Clarke. “This funding reflects our commitment to community-based health care.”
Trish Rawn, CEO of Hospice Georgian Triangle, expressed gratitude on behalf of local hospices, noting the County’s support has been “instrumental in expanding programming and delivering compassionate care” throughout Simcoe County.
The County says it remains committed to investing in vital health care services that give residents access to high-quality hospice care close to home.
