A Barrie man is facing impaired driving charges after a two-vehicle collision on County Road 56 in Essa Township on Saturday night.
Police say they were called shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18th, following an automatic crash notification between 20 Sideroad and 25 Sideroad. One vehicle was found in a ditch with front-end damage, while the other was overturned on the west side of the road.
Investigators determined a northbound vehicle entered the opposite lane, forcing a southbound driver to swerve to avoid a head-on crash. Both drivers were checked by EMS and reported no injuries. Prior to the collision, police had received a complaint about one of the vehicles driving erratically.
A 23-year-old from Barrie has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused is set to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on November 20th.
Police are reminding drivers to report suspected impaired motorists by calling 9-1-1. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
