The County of Simcoe is reminding residents to safely dispose of household batteries during Battery Collection Week next month.
This initiative encourages environmentally responsible disposal to prevent harmful materials from entering the environment and to help conserve valuable resources. Residents are asked to place used household batteries in a designated battery bag or a clear resealable bag and set it on top of their waste cart (not inside) on their regular collection day.
Battery bags were not mailed this year due to Canada Post disruptions, but can be picked up at County waste facilities and other select locations. The program accepts single-use, dry cell batteries such as AA, AAA, C, D, 9-Volt, and button batteries. Rechargeable, industrial, and car batteries are not accepted and should instead be brought to a Household Hazardous Waste Depot.
Battery Collection Week runs Monday, November 3rd – Friday, November 7th across Simcoe County.
