Four local students from Barrie and Oro-Medonte have been recognized among Georgian College’s 2025 Schulich Builders Scholarship recipients.
Morgan Aldebert of Oro-Medonte and Annette Atkinson of Barrie each received $20,000 scholarships for the Cabinetmaking Techniques program at Georgian’s Barrie Campus. Max Bisson and Joshua Robinson, both from Barrie, also received scholarships—Bisson for Electrical Techniques at the Robbert Hartog Midland Campus and Robinson for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician at the Barrie Campus.
“We are proud to support students in the skilled trades and open doors to this meaningful career path,” says Judy Schulich, Director of The Schulich Foundation. “Behind every home built and every community strengthened are the tradespeople who make it possible. Today, the shortage of these skilled workers is holding Canada back — and that’s why investing in young people who choose this path is one of the most impactful ways we can build a stronger, more prosperous country for all.”
The Schulich Builders Scholarships, created by The Schulich Foundation, support students pursuing skilled trades careers with awards valued at up to $40,000, covering tuition, tools, and living expenses. The program helps train the next generation of tradespeople to meet growing demand across Canada.
