A beloved Simcoe County holiday tradition is returning for 2025 with the comeback of the North Pole Express Mailboxes, created through a partnership between Just Simcoe and local businesses.
The initiative began during last year’s Canada Post strike as a temporary workaround, but strong community response and support from local businesses helped turn it into an annual tradition. This year, more communities across Simcoe County will have access to the festive blue mailboxes, where children can drop off letters that will receive personalized replies crafted by Santa’s helpers.
“When we first set this up during the postal strike, we thought it would be a one-time thing,” says Andrew de Jong, founder of Just Simcoe. “But the response from the community was incredible. Parents reached out, kids were excited, and local businesses stepped forward wanting to help. It became clear very quickly that this wasn’t just a solution, it was the beginning of a new Simcoe County holiday tradition.”
Residents can find mailbox locations and participation details online.
