The Alliston Hornets are off to a good start in the second round of the PJHL Playoffs.
They kicked off their series against the Orillia Terriers on Friday, March 6th at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.
It was all Alliston early on, and that continued throughout the game. They’d get two goals each from Nick Lamont and Tristen Pitt, as well as Ben Smith, Gunner Kirk, and Noah Prokopec. That led to a 7-1 victory for the Hornets.
Riley Arts was in net for Alliston. He stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced, getting the .958% save percentage and the win.
Just two days later, on Sunday, March 8th, the Hornets travelled to Orillia for Game #2 against the Terriers at the West Orillia Sports Complex.
Much like Friday’s match-up, Alliston took control early and never let up.
It was a well-conditioned attack, with the Hornets getting five goals from five different players: Lucas Bell, Duncan Grube, Gunner Kirk, Nick Lamont, and Cameron Lamont.
Riley Arts was in net once again, and had a relatively light workload. He stopped 15 of 16 shots, giving him a .937% save percentage and the 5-1 win.
The Hornets will have a chance to go for the series sweep next weekend, as Games #3-5 will run back-to-back-to-back starting on Friday, March 13th at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre. Ticket details can be found here.
