A Barrie man is facing charges after a stabbing in the downtown area over the weekend.
Officers were patrolling Dunlop Street East shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7th when witnesses alerted them that a man had been stabbed. They located the 23-year-old victim, who was transported to hospital in serious condition.
Investigators say the victim and suspect had been involved in a verbal altercation outside a downtown establishment that escalated into a physical confrontation.
Police located the suspect about an hour later near Jeffrey Street and Grove Street East, where he was arrested without incident.
The 20-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
