The season is officially over for the Alliston Hornets.
It was a bumpy series for the team. That primarily stems from the result of Game #3 being overturned due to an Alliston roster error, changing a 7-4 Hornets win into a 5-0 forfeit loss.
When that result was changed, Alliston found itself going from being up 2-1 in the series to down 2-1. That quickly became 3-1, and eventually 3-2 after Games #4 and #5.
Game #6 was held on Wednesday, April 1st at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.
The Siskins jumped out to an early lead, scoring the opening goal less than two minutes into the game. Alliston quickly responded with a goal from Nick Lamont. Stayner answered right back with a pair of goals before Lamont scored his second of the game. It was 3-2 Siskins after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, Stayner scored to give themselves a two goal lead. It was all Alliston after that, scoring four straight goals to end the middle frame. Those came from Duncan Grube, Gunner Kirk, Will Millington, and Adam McKillop. It was 6-4 Alliston heading into the final period.
Stayner was able to score two goals with less than six minutes remaining to send the game into overtime. The Siskins scored the game winner, and thus, winning the series 4-2.
The Hornets will head into their offseason as they look to retool their roster for another playoff run next season.
