The Town of Innisfil is hosting a series of information sessions this spring to support residents considering a run in the upcoming municipal and school board election.
These sessions are designed to provide prospective candidates with details on eligibility requirements, the nomination process, campaign finances, and the roles and responsibilities of elected officials. The first session will take place Thursday, April 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sandycove Acres, offering an in-person overview of the nomination process and key timelines, with no registration required.
Additional sessions include a May 4th workshop hosted in partnership with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, covering legislative requirements for candidates and third-party advertisers, and a May 21st session titled “Thinking of Running for Council…Now What?” focused on helping participants understand the realities of public office and make informed decisions before entering the race. Both sessions will be available in person at Innisfil Town Hall or online via Zoom.
The Town has also introduced an Election Ambassador initiative to encourage community engagement and promote voter participation ahead of the election.
The 2026 Municipal and School Board Election is scheduled for October 26th.
