More than 600 Georgian College students are receiving financial support to pursue their education, thanks to $1.7 million in donor-funded scholarships, awards, and bursaries distributed over the past academic year.
The impact of this support was highlighted during the college’s Gather and Grow events, where students and donors connected and shared how financial assistance is helping reduce barriers and improve access to post-secondary education. Donor-funded awards are part of a broader financial aid program that provides nearly $7 million annually, allowing students to focus more fully on their studies and academic success.
“Donor contributions do far more than provide financial assistance,” says Georgian College President and CEO Kevin Weaver. “They create opportunities, remove barriers and empower students to pursue their goals.”
Students say the support is making a meaningful difference, including Electrical Engineering Technician student Alex Eveleigh, who credits his scholarship with allowing him to focus on learning and gaining hands-on experience.
“As a student, the support I’ve received through my scholarship has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders,” says Eveleigh. “Because of donors, I’ve been able to pursue this passion with the knowledge that I have people who support and believe in me.”
