A Barrie man is facing multiple charges after police say he was found impaired by drugs during a roadside check.
Barrie Police were conducting a RIDE checkpoint on Ferndale Drive South on Thursday, April 23rd when they stopped a driver and began an investigation. Police say officers developed reasonable grounds to believe the man was impaired, leading to his arrest. During the investigation, approximately 45 grams of suspected crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia were seized.
The 35-year-old has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired by drug
- Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Police say the checkpoint was part of Project DRYVE, an initiative targeting impaired driving and harm reduction in high-risk areas across the city.
