A Barrie man is facing multiple charges after police say he was caught driving more than double the speed limit on a city street.
Officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Ferndale Drive North on Thursday, April 23rd when they observed a vehicle travelling at a dangerously high rate of speed. Barrie Police say their radar confirmed the vehicle was moving at 105 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone, and a traffic stop was conducted just north of Tiffin Street shortly after 2:00 p.m.
During the investigation, officers also determined the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended licence. A 41-year-old Barrie man has been charged with:
- Stunt driving – excessive speed
- Speeding 105 km/h in a 50 km/h zone
- Driving while under suspension
As a result, the driver received an immediate 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
