The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) has received approval from the Ministry of Education for its 2026 – 2027 school year calendars, giving families a chance to start planning ahead.
The board says the school year will begin for students on Tuesday, September 8th, following Labour Day. Christmas holidays are scheduled from December 21st, 2026 to January 1st, 2027, while March Break will run from March 15th to March 19th. The last day of classes is set for June 29th, 2027.
The calendar includes 194 possible school days, meeting provincial requirements, along with seven Professional Activity (PA) days for both elementary and secondary students. Exam periods for secondary students are scheduled from January 26th to February 1st, and again from June 23rd to June 29th, 2027.
Officials say the approved calendar provides consistency for students, families, and staff as they prepare for the upcoming academic year. Full calendar details, including PA day schedules, are available here.
