Two Barrie men are facing multiple firearms-related charges following a high-risk police takedown in the city’s north end.
Officers responded to reports of a violent disturbance in a Kozlov Street parking lot at around 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 26th. Police say the call involved two suspects and two unidentified male victims.
Within minutes, officers located a suspect vehicle leaving the area and conducted a high-risk stop on Bayfield Street, detaining four occupants. One man matching the suspect description was arrested at the scene, while the other three individuals were released unconditionally.
A second suspect was located and arrested about an hour and a half later during an unrelated call. Investigators say evidence, including video footage, confirmed the two accused had been in possession of handguns and allegedly pointed them at the victims. No firearms were recovered.
Two 21-year-old men from Barrie are now charged with multiple offences:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Pointing a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Failing to comply with probation order
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking the two victims involved, along with anyone who may have information, to contact investigators.
