Property owners in the Nottawasaga Watershed can now track the progress of their permit applications online through a new digital tool launched by the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority.
The newly introduced Client Dashboard allows applicants to monitor their permit status, view timelines, and see which staff member is assigned to their file, all without needing to contact NVCA directly. Officials say the tool is part of ongoing efforts to improve transparency and customer service.
“Over the last two years, NVCA has made significant improvements to our processes and customer service,” says CAO Jennifer Vincent, noting the dashboard builds on the organization’s previously launched online request portal.
NVCA regulates development in areas prone to natural hazards such as flooding, erosion, and unstable ground. Property owners planning projects near rivers, wetlands, or shorelines (including Georgian Bay) may require permits before proceeding.
Applicants are notified within 21 days if their submission is complete. Once approved for review, minor permits are typically issued within 30 days, while major permits can take up to 90 days.
Officials encourage residents to use the online tools, check if their property is regulated, and book pre-consultations to help ensure a smooth application process.
