The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority is getting set to host its annual Arbor Day tree sale, offering residents a chance to purchase a variety of seedlings while supporting local environmental initiatives.
The sale will take place on Saturday, May 9th at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation, where 16 species of trees and shrubs will be available, including white pine, red oak, black walnut, and tamarack. Seedlings are sold in bundles of 10 for $40, with quantities limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Officials say the event is a popular one, with many species selling out quickly (often within the first hour) as residents line up early to secure their selections.
Proceeds from the sale support NVCA’s forestry program, which works with landowners across the watershed to plant trees that help reduce erosion, improve wildlife habitat, and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Organizers note the seedlings are bare-root, making them more affordable and better suited to establishing strong root systems once planted.
